Utah Tech University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor or Instructor of the Practice of Physics to begin Spring Semester 2027. The position is housed in the Engineering Department within the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology in St.

George, Utah. The successful candidate will teach 24 credits (Assistant Professor) or 30 credits (Instructor of the Practice) annually, hold office hours, advise students, participate in service, and contribute to program

• MS in Physics or related field required for Instructor of the Practice; BS with industry experience may be considered.
• Teaching experience with laboratory instruction preferred.

The Engineering Department within the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology at Utah Tech University (UT) in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor or Instructor of the Practice of Physics to begin Spring Semester (January 2027). • Teach 24 credits (Assistant Professor) or 30 credits (Instructor of the Practice) of lecture and/or laboratory courses annually.
• Perform defined campus-wide duties, including holding office hours, functioning as an advisor to students, and performing university service and scholarship as defined by academic policy.
• Attend department, college, and division faculty meetings; work with other faculty in program management and adhere to University policy and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Minimum of an Ph.D. in Physics or related field (Assistant Professor) or M.S. in Physics or related field (Instructor of the Practice). Candidates with a B.S. in Physics or related field that have relevant industry experience and/or a M.S. degree in a non-related field will also be considered.
• Teaching experience with demonstrated ability of successful teaching including laboratory experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with other faculty, staff and students.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Full-time (9-month) professional-track or tenure-track faculty position. Faculty service, with pay and benefits begins January 1, 2027. Annual salary of $58,000-$61,000 for Instructor of the Practice, and $64,000-$67,000 for Assistant Professor depending on qualifications and experience, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
