Job summary

Covestro Baytown Site is seeking engineering interns for a 3-month assignment in the Summer of 2027 (late May to early August). You will support day-to-day operations, help improve safety, reliability and efficiency of production units, and gain hands-on experience in a chemical plant environment.

Eligible candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, with freshman year completed and a minimum GPA of 3.0.

  • Enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program with a major in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Completion of Freshman year.
  • Overall GPA of 3.0.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day engineering activities to improve safety, reliability and efficiency of production units.
  • Assist maintenance and operations to implement improvements on a chemical production site.
  • Work across Maintenance/Reliability, Instrument and Electrical Engineering, Production Support, Automation and Control, Environmental and Process Safety, or Project Engineering.

As an Engineering Intern within Covestro, incumbents will be responsible for a wide range of engineering activities to support day-to-day operations, and to improve the safety, reliability and of the efficiency of our production units and our work processes. Candidates must be available for a 3-month assignment during the Summer of 2027 (late May to early August).

Related to this position, Covestro offers:

Basic Qualifications

More specifically related to this position, Covestro seeks an incumbent who possesses knowledge of and abilities to work in Engineering typically acquired by:

  • Enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program with a major in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Completion of Freshman year
  • Overall GPA of 3.0

Preferred Qualifications

  • Desire to work and learn in an operating chemical plant
  • Previous internship or co-op experience is a plus.
