Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Engineering Intern to support the Transmission & Distribution group and other market teams. The role involves assisting with standard engineering tasks, design updates and data analysis under guidance from lead engineers.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential. The internship emphasizes campus/community involvement, a minimum 3.0 GPA, and eligibility to work permanently in the United States.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field from a recognized, accredited program required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Assist with design of engineering systems and updating designs.
• Assist lead engineers with project duties and ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
• Present solutions to concerns and research solutions to project concerns.
