Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is seeking an Engineer Intern Applicant–Engineer Intern 2 to support transportation projects through design and analysis. Training is provided and advancement potential exists within the Engineering job series.

Positions are located in East Baton Rouge Parish and report to Engineer 6. Eligible for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate; this is a temporary posting with potential for permanent status.

Qualifications

• Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
• Training provided with opportunities for career progression in the Engineering job series.

Responsibilities

• Prepares construction plans for pavement preservation, contract maintenance, safety and related projects at the District level.
• Prepares and processes proposals and contracts for letter bids in accordance with Department policies and reviews bids for compliance.
• Knowledge of State and Federal design standards; uses CAD, spreadsheet, word processing and other specialized software.
• Provides technical expertise and assistance to District Permit Specialists and the US Army Corps of Engineers; prepares major repair and reimbursable project proposals.
