Job summary

ENGIE North America Inc. in Columbus, OH, in collaboration with The Ohio State University, seeks an Engineering Intern to help design and build a 3D model called the Electric City, illustrating energy production and distribution from renewables and traditional sources.

Work includes CAD modeling, rapid prototyping, and creating technical drawings while supporting the Capital Projects team on various tasks; require active student status and willingness to work on-site at the university site.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (sophomore or higher) at The Ohio State University.
• Experience with 3D modeling and CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping.
• Experience fabricating and building 3D printed models.
• Some experience with basic electrical wiring, troubleshooting and testing.
• Attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop a 3D model of a smart city using 3D and 2D CAD software.
• Design, print and fabricate prototype models to represent a Smart city for conferences.
• Create a bill of materials and spare parts list.
• Create, update, and maintain technical drawings and design documentation.
• Assist the project team with drawing creation, design reviews, and other project related tasks.
