Job summary

Sulzer in Portland, OR invites energetic students to join as a Mechanical Design Intern for summer. You will assist engineers in the Product Development group with hands-on CAD work and data collection, under guided training.

The role runs full-time during summer and reduces to part-time during the school year. You will interact with SAP/Teamcenter and NX to draft drawings and support projects, while learning core engineering workflows in a global company.

Qualifications

• Freshman year completed in BSc Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Word and Excel.
• Experience with 2D and 3D CAD.
• Interest in rotating machinery and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

This role follows specific instructions and procedures and is designed to provide learning opportunities in a structured environment.POSITION: Mechanical Design Intern**SUMMARY:**The Product Development (PD) group is involved in the design, validation and documentation of new product design and upgrades to existing product ranges. The successful candidate will work on project support as assigned by Engineers in the PD group.Position is full-time during the summer. Half time during the school year.**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**Training will be given to accomplish the following:· Hands-on support of component testing and data collection.· Drafting support using NX 3D/2D system.· Engineering support work for projects as assigned.· Release of drawings / documents through SAP & Teamcenter ERP systems.**SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:**· Adheres to company and department policies, procedures, and standards· Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide ESG & EHS Management systems, which includes following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.
