Job summary

ROCHEM Americas, Inc. invites engineering interns to join our team in the Syracuse, Rochester, or Buffalo area to support design, evaluation, and implementation of advanced membrane water and wastewater treatment systems.

You will work with senior engineers on process design, modeling, documentation, and customer support for industrial and municipal projects. The role offers hands-on experience with reverse osmosis and membrane tech, with mentorship, paid training, and potential for full-time

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a physical science
• Coursework in Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
• Strong chemistry background (especially inorganic chemistry) preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
• CAD experience is beneficial
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with Spanish, German, or Chinese is a plus

• Assist in evaluating customer applications for technical and economic feasibility
• Support process modeling and system capability projections
• Assist with preparing technical proposals, quotations, and engineering documentation
• Support spare parts and consumables quotations
• Collaborate with engineering and technical service colleagues on active projects

Position Overview

The Engineering Intern supports the design, evaluation, and implementation of ROCHEM ® Americas' advanced membrane water and wastewater treatment systems. Working alongside experienced engineers, this role assists with process design, system sizing, technical proposals, engineering documentation, and customer support for a wide range of industrial and municipal treatment applications.

This position offers the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world engineering projects while gaining hands‑on experience with advanced reverse osmosis and membrane technologies. The Engineering Intern will collaborate with engineering, sales, project management, and field service teams to support active customer projects.

This will be a full-time internship based in the Syracuse, Rochester, or Buffalo region of New York. Candidates must be actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related physical science. Work schedules will be coordinated around academic commitments. The role reports to the Engineering Manager. The position is primarily remote, but will require periodic travel during the internship period.

Travel Requirements

• Full-time: occasional travel will be required to support existing sites & pilot studies
• ROCHEM ® Americas covers approved travel expenses.

Compensation: $25-$30/hour
