Job summary

ROCHEM Americas is seeking an Applications Engineer in the Syracuse, Rochester, or Buffalo region to support the design, evaluation, and implementation of advanced membrane water and wastewater treatment systems. You will work with engineers on process design, system sizing, technical proposals, documentation, and customer support for industrial and municipal applications.

Occasional travel may be required for customer meetings, pilot testing, startups, and commissioning activities.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering or a physical Science; master’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of water or wastewater treatment processes.
  • Strong inorganic chemistry background.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hands on mechanical and/or electrical skills.
  • Database experience beneficial.
  • CAD experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Spanish or German is a plus.

  • Evaluate customer applications for technical & economic feasibility.
  • Perform system capability projections & process modeling.
  • Onsite treatability bench and pilot testing.
  • Estimate system costs and prepare proposals & quotes.
  • Source and Quote spare parts & consumables.
  • Technical position, with a strong sales aspect.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical service colleagues globally to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Serve as key customer interface, ensuring timely communication & project clarity.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Position Overview

The Applications Engineer supports the design, evaluation, and implementation of ROCHEM Americas' advanced membrane water and wastewater treatment systems. Working alongside experienced engineers, this role assists with process design, system sizing, technical proposals, engineering documentation, and customer support for a wide range of industrial and municipal treatment applications.

This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with advanced reverse osmosis and membrane technologies while developing practical engineering skills through collaboration with engineering, sales, project management, and field service teams. Occasional travel may be required to support customer meetings, pilot testing, system startups, and commissioning activities.

This is a full-time, salaried position based in the Syracuse, Rochester, or Buffalo region of New York. Recent engineering graduates are encouraged to apply. The role reports to the Engineering Manager.
