Job summary

The Mennel Milling Company is seeking an Engineering Intern to support plant engineering projects that enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, and quality. You will gain real-world experience in a manufacturing setting, working with engineers, technicians, and operations teams in both office and plant environments.

Responsibilities include assisting with capital projects, data collection/analysis for improvements, and creating/ updating layouts and schedules.

Qualifications

• Rising junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with data-driven mindset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CAD or other technical software a plus.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Able to work in both office and manufacturing environments with safety compliance.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for training or project support.

Responsibilities

• Support capital projects from concept through installation and closeout.
• Collect and analyze operational data to identify process improvements.
• Create/update equipment layouts, process flow diagrams, scopes of work, and schedules.
• Collaborate with engineers, maintenance, vendors, and plant personnel.
• Participate in equipment inspections, field measurements, and startup activities.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety and quality.

Schedule: This is a temporary Internship Opportunity. Internship Cycles are flexible, available all year around and/or during the summer. 8AM-5PM, may vary, depending on location.

What You’ll Do

As an Engineering Intern, you'll play a key role in supporting plant engineering projects that improve safety, reliability, efficiency, quality, and overall operations. You'll gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside engineers, technicians, and operations teams in both office and manufacturing environments.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting capital projects from concept development through installation, commissioning, and project closeout.
• Collecting and analyzing operational data to identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency.
• Creating and updating equipment layouts, process flow diagrams, scopes of work, schedules, and other project documentation.
• Collaborating with engineers, maintenance teams, contractors, vendors, and plant personnel to execute projects successfully.
• Participating in equipment inspections, field measurements, installation oversight, and start-up activities.
• Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, reliability, and operational excellence.

What We're Looking For

• Rising junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to gather data and develop practical solutions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CAD or other technical software is a plus.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in both office and manufacturing environments while adhering to all safety requirements.
• Manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for training, vendor visits, or project support.
