MW Industries, Inc. is seeking a mechanical engineering intern to gain hands-on experience by collaborating with the Operations Manager and the engineering team on assigned projects.

You will apply engineering principles, create 3D models in SolidWorks, and develop drawings, BOMs, and documentation to support production and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office systems.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work on several projects at a time.

Responsibilities

  • Use SolidWorks to generate 3D part and assembly models.
  • Create CAD drawings and BOMs.
  • Develop fixtures, jigs, and tooling for the manufacturing cell.
  • Prepare documentation: part drawings, setup sheets, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Assist with the Raw Material Identification System with Engineering and QC.
  • Support work order changes and engineering master updates.
  • Assist with weekly WIP data reports using Visual ERP.
  • Create shop drawings for production and tooling.
  • Collect data and analyze process metrics as needed.
  • Additional tasks as directed.

Description

JOB SUMMARY

Gain manufacturing experience by working with the Operations Manager, operations team, and management while completing determined projects and applying engineering principles.

REPORTING TO

Operations Manager

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Utilizing SolidWorks CAD to generate all 3D Part & Assembly models. Generate all required CAD Drawings, as well as BOMs.
  • Assist in the development of improved processes for the Handle Manufacturing Cell. This includes developing fixtures, jigs, and tooling.
  • Create all necessary documentation. This will include all part drawings, set-up sheets, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Assist Engineering and QC with the implementation of the Raw Material Identification System
  • Assist with any Engineering Master and any Work Order changes.
  • Assist the procuring and verifying weekly WIP data reports to present to the General Manager, utilizing Visual ERP
  • Develop, design, and generate “shop drawings” to enable shop employees to manufacture parts for resale, internal parts and tooling.
  • Collect any necessary data and generate a report to analyze specific process metrics. This may include labor hours, machine tool life studies, machine tool usage, machine maintenance schedules, etc.
  • Additional tasks as directed

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate within a group.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently.
