Job summary

The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking an Engineering Inspector II to lead inspection functions for public works and private development projects, ensuring conformance to contracts, plans, specifications, and municipal standards. Qualifications

Requires a minimum of three (3) years of road, water and sewer or other public infrastructure construction inspection experience.
Requires a minimum of 2 years inspecting capital projects.
Possess or obtain a valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
Veterans’ Preference documentation may be required.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with the project manager or plan reviewer on construction issues and offer solutions.
Inspect and oversee construction in City right-of-way to ensure permit compliance and adherence to plans.
Review construction schedules and verify contractor work.
Prepare organized technical reports and maintain inspection records.
Review drawings for errors and constructability; read and interpret plans and specs.
