Air Force Civilian Service seeks an Engineering Flight Chief at Joint Base Andrews to independently lead an engineering flight directing a $1B+ portfolio. You will plan, organize, and execute multi-phase design and construction programs supporting presidential airlift and national-level leaders.

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking an Engineering Flight Chief, (GS-0801-14) at the 316th Civil Engineer Squadron, Joint Base Andrews, MD. This is a superb opportunity for an exceptional, highly autonomous technical leader to serve as the Engineering Flight Chief (CEN). Operating with broad delegated authority, you will independently lead and direct an engineering flight responsible for a $1B+ capital project portfolio. As a second-level supervisor, you will plan, organize, and execute complex, multi-phase design and construction programs that directly support presidential airlift, national-level leaders, and critical mission partners.

Selective Placement Factor: A current professional registration or license as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect in one of the 50 states or territories is required for this position.
As the Engineering Flight Chief, you'll guide multidisciplinary engineers, manage complex infrastructure programs, shape long-range planning, and deliver high impact projects that keep Joint Base Andrews ready for any mission. This role blends strategic leadership, technical expertise, and program management to drive innovation, resilience, and world-class engineering outcomes.

Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor’s degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
