Job summary

SPX Technologies in Kansas City area is seeking a 2027 summer Engineering/Design Intern to support product development, testing, and design initiatives that contribute to our manufacturing solutions. You'll gain hands-on experience with CAD, prototyping, and documentation while collaborating with seasoned engineers.

The role targets students in Mechanical, Industrial, or Design Engineering who want real-world challenges, mentorship, and exposure to the engineering design cycle, with housing

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Design/Drafting Technology.
• GPA 3.0 or higher.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to read effectively from screen or paper.

Responsibilities

• Assist in product development projects, including design analysis (structural and/or fluid mechanics) and prototype support.
• Contribute to product improvement initiatives, such as technical feasibility studies, economic analysis, and design layouts.
• Create and modify engineering drawings and models using CAD software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks).
• Support component and product testing, documenting results and recommending design adjustments when needed.
• Help assemble engineering standards in preparation for automation and design process improvements.
• Collaborate with engineers on updating or modifying design programs, templates, and technical documentation to reflect product revisions and industry code updates.
