Description

Our Systems Engineering team is seeking an experienced Engineering Controls Manager to serve as a senior member of the engineering management team. The role involves managing a team of control system engineers, driving technical strategy, innovation, product delivery, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical, leadership skills, and business acumen.

This position is based in Indianapolis!

Essential Functions:

  1. Communicate regularly with customers' engineering teams to discuss capabilities, applications, requirements, and coordinate project activities.
  2. Maintain broad knowledge of controls, power conversion, and their applications across industries and equipment.
  3. Manage projects independently, including estimating costs, resources, and timelines.
  4. Translate customer needs into actionable plans.
  5. Stay updated on industry technologies and trends.
  6. Conduct competitive analysis on pricing, products, and market positioning.
  7. Contribute to product strategies and roadmaps.
  8. Develop product requirements and specifications in collaboration with stakeholders.
  9. Apply strong problem-solving and project management skills.
  10. Develop and uphold engineering standards and processes.
  11. Prioritize projects within the engineering group and manage the project pipeline.
  12. Define product and growth strategies in partnership with Business Development and Product Development teams.
  13. Coordinate new product launches through the Stage Gate Process.
  14. Manage departmental budgets and project costs effectively.
  15. Execute tasks efficiently to serve customers and meet corporate goals.

Requirements

  • Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Power, Software, Physics, or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Master’s degree in Science or Business Administration preferred.
  • Over 10 years of engineering experience.
  • More than 15 years of industry experience.
  • At least 10 years in electric machines, drives, controls, or systems.
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Extensive knowledge of drives, controls, and rotating electric machines.
  • Experience with industrial/machine control theory and mining machine systems.
  • Experience managing product lifecycle and translating customer requirements into product specifications.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement product roadmaps.
  • Strong business acumen and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Experience with engineering tools like simulators, virtual prototyping, and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and make decisions on non-routine duties.
  • Ability to travel overnight, including internationally.
