Salient Motion is seeking an Engineering Co-op to join our fast-moving team in Torrance, CA. You will embed with mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, and systems engineering to take a project from specification through qualification over six months or longer.

This hands-on role emphasizes ownership and delivering production-bound hardware for customer programs. You will ramp quickly, collaborate with senior engineers, and contribute to design reviews and documentation as part of a

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Commit to a minimum 6-month co-op rotation.
• Available for a full-time term, including semesters or consecutive terms.
• Comfortable in a lab or shop environment with hardware and tools.
• Clear communicator who can document work, present results, and ask questions.
• Hands-on project experience through labs, clubs, or prior internships.

Responsibilities

• Own a scoped engineering workstream from design through test and release with senior support.
• Design, build, and test electro-mechanical systems and subassemblies on active programs.
• Build, maintain and improve test fixtures and data collection infrastructures.
• Firmware bring-up and design validation tests for electronics boards.
• Lead prototyping, assembly, and hands-on lab/shop work.
• Plan and execute engineering tests, collect data, and present results.
• Drive manufacturing and supplier activities including part prep and inspection.
• Improve engineering and documentation processes for long-term reuse.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and program leaders and present progress in reviews.
