State of Colorado, through CDOT, is seeking an Engineering Assistant III in Construction to assist Project Engineers. You will enforce standards, perform materials testing, collect field samples, and support design-phase administrative tasks, including public information and ADA compliance materials.
The role requires thorough testing, documentation, and quality control of field operations, with responsibilities for advising engineers and directing staff as needed to maintain project quality.
This position is only open to Colorado state residents.
New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.

The purpose of this unit is to provide engineering expertise in developing, building, and maintaining a safe and integrated transportation system. The unit manages and oversees projects for upgrading, reconstructing, and maintaining the highway system along with other projects that have federal, state and local funds. Design, design oversight, construction management, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation management, consultant management, and overall project management are provided.
As the Engineering Assistant III (EPSA III), Construction, you will support the Project Engineers by enforcing established standards, procedures, and tests across highway construction projects. Core duties involve overseeing contractor operations for contract compliance, conducting materials testing, and providing design-phase administrative support. Daily technical responsibilities include collecting field samples, performing quantitative analyses, operating specialized equipment, and maintaining all testing supplies to ensure results meet project specifications. Additionally, the role provides Public Information and ADA compliance support by preparing communications and accessible documents for use during construction. While non-supervisory, this position is responsible for advising the Project Engineer, providing work directions to staff, and conducting quality control on peers' deliverables, such as materials final packages.
