Job summary

Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) in Juneau seeks an Engineering Assistant 2 to support materials testing and QA for roads, airports, and bridges. You will supervise up to three Technicians and help maintain SRML accreditation per AASHTO R18.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or land surveying; ABET accreditation preferred.
• 1 year of entry level engineering/architectural/land surveying experience as Engineering Assistant 1.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or LSIT certificate; FE/FS exam verification acceptable.
• Graduate study may substitute for required experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Regional Quality Assurance Engineer in providing materials engineering support for multiple projects (roads, airports, bridges).
• Schedule and assign work of up to three Technicians to maintain SRML operations and accreditation.
• Provide materials testing training and serve as the materials test reference for the Southeast Region DOT.
