Engineering Assistant 1/2 Flex – Anchorage, Alaska

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Central Region Design, Engineering, and Construction Services, is looking for an Engineering Assistant 1/2 Flex in Anchorage to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

Base Salary Information:

• Engineering Assistant 1: $33.76 / Hourly (OT Eligible)
• Engineering Assistant 2: $38.91 / Hourly (OT Eligible)

What you will be doing:

At the Engineering Assistant 1 level, you will perform a variety of engineering duties to assist with both the utility permit and utility relocation programs. You will evaluate utility permits and recommend modifications or approval based on maintaining the integrity of the road surface and surrounding drainage facilities and safety considerations to the traveling public. Project assignments will consist of pavement preservation projects and other low complexity highway and aviation projects and require you to coordinate with local utility companies to identify and resolve utility conflicts through the development of utility relocation agreements.

At the Engineering Assistant 2 level, you will work with utility companies to negotiate utility relocation agreements and then use those agreements to facilitate the physical relocation work on-site during the construction season. In the field you will be working closely with the DOT&PF construction team, the utility company's construction crew, and the highway contractor. Post construction tasks include reviewing bills for accuracy and finalizing project documentation. You will be assigned to multiple projects of intermediate complexity.
