Job summary

ReNEW Schools seeks a high school teacher to lead technology, engineering, and computer science instruction. You will teach PLTW courses (IED, CSP, CSE) within the engineering and CS pathways and adapt lessons to student needs and PLTW standards.

The ideal candidate holds a technology education or CS education degree with Indiana licensure or is pursuing licensure and PLTW credentials, including possible dual credit work with Ivy Tech.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in technology education or computer science education.
  • Indiana teaching license or willingness to complete transition to teaching program in technology education.
  • Preference for candidates certified and trained to teach PLTW engineering and computer science pathways; dual credit credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach PLTW courses: IED, CSP, CSE to high school students.
  • Deliver engineering and computer science pathway instruction.
  • Align instruction with PLTW standards and school curriculum.

Job description

Job Summary

All duties and responsibilities associated with being a successful technology, engineering, and computer science teacher at the high school level. This position currently provides instruction in Project Lead the Way (PLTW), teaching Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) in the engineering pathway. This position also provides instruction in Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Computer Science, teaching Computer Science Essentials (CSE) and Computer Science Principles (CSP).

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in technology education, computer science education, or the equivalent.
  • Certification: Valid Indiana State Teaching License or the willingness to complete a transition to teaching program in technology education. Preference will be given to candidates who are certified and trained to teach the engineering pathway and computer science pathway through Project Lead the Way (PLTW). Preference will also be given to candidates who hold dual credit credentials or are willing to pursue the necessary coursework. See dual credit credentialing information below from Ivy Tech:
  • School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering & Applied Science Course Standards
  • A qualified adjunct faculty member, including Dual Credit, Workforce Alignment, and a full-time faculty teaching outside their discipline, meets the technical course standard through one of four routes:
  • Meets the full-time faculty discipline standard; OR
  • Possesses a Department of Labor, Bureau for Apprenticeship Training recognized journeyman’s card in the discipline directly related to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and in journeyman status for two years or more with experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and
  • Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR); OR
  • Possesses any specialized certifications or credentials required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and
  • 5 years directly related work experience in the field that is specifically linked to the Course Learning Objectives (CLOs); OR
  • Possesses a current Workplace Specialist License, Technology Education License (Technology and Engineering Education, Engineering and Technology Education), or CTE: Trade & Industrial Engineer or Manufacturing License granted by the Indiana Department of Education appropriate to course objectives and directly linked to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and
  • Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR).
