Job description

Engineering Adjunct (Summer and Fall 2026)

Germanna Community College, a two‑year public institution in the Virginia Community College System, is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach engineering courses. The position will be located in Virginia and requires the candidate to commute to campus or relocate for consistent attendance.

Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned engineering courses, both in‑person and online, with a maximum of 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters and up to 8 credit hours during the summer session.
  • Develop course syllabi and instructional materials that meet curricular standards.
  • Maintain accurate student records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations of Germanna Community College and the Virginia Community College System.
  • Maintain current competence in the specific engineering discipline or area of specialization.
Essential Functions

The faculty member is expected to meet assigned classes regularly, submit required records and reports on time, teach the prescribed courses with the established texts, and uphold the college’s statement on professional ethics in accordance with institutional policies.

Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in both classroom and online settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in instructional technology and willingness to adopt artificial intelligence tools.
  • Prior teaching experience and professional work experience in the engineering field are preferred.
  • Experience in developing and delivering online courses in synchronous and asynchronous learning environments at a regionally accredited institution.
