Job summary

Entergy Corporation in Arkansas is seeking an Engineer I–Sr. to support power distribution design, planning, maintenance, and emergency restoration. Responsibilities span grid design, asset management, reliability, and root cause analysis to improve system performance.

The role requires knowledge of engineering principles, teamwork, strong communication, and the ability to work under pressure. 24‑hour call duties and potential travel for storm response are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline.
  • PE may be considered with engineering technology degree.
  • Preferred: Electrical, Mechanical, Civil.

Responsibilities

  • Perform load flow analysis and circuit coordination using SynerGEE.
  • Develop plans to correct unbalanced loads on distribution circuits.
  • Size and configure field equipment including reclosers, fuses, capacitors, and regulators.
  • Review DER documentation and customer equipment for compliance with Entergy standards.
  • Conduct root‑cause failure analysis on failures with unknown causes.
  • Develop planned switching orders for the network.
  • Troubleshoot power quality issues.
  • Provide technical guidance to Engineering Associates and local area line groups.
  • Create and review electrical designs meeting customer needs and reliability.
  • Meet with external customers, architects, developers, contractors and government entities to communicate standards.
  • Perform engineering calculations for planning and corrective projects.
  • Assist with storm restoration efforts.

Job Summary / Purpose

Responsible for engineering design and support for power distribution. Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, and design engineering activities related to routine, non‑routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Perform load flow analysis and circuit coordination analysis utilizing SynerGEE.
  • Identify and develop a plan to correct unbalanced loads on distribution circuits.
  • Develop settings, program, and size all field equipment including but not limited to reclosers, fuses, capacitors, and regulators.
  • Review all new distributed energy resource technical documents and customer equipment to ensure compliance with Entergy’s standards and policies.
  • Perform root‑cause failure analysis on failures with unknown causes.
  • Develop planned switching orders for the network.
  • Troubleshoot power quality issues.
  • Provide technical guidance to Engineering Associates and local area line groups.
  • Create, review, and recommend electrical designs that meet customer needs, comply with company standards and enhance overall system performance and reliability.
  • Participate in meetings with external customers, architects, developers, contractors and government entities to communicate standards and guidelines.
  • Perform engineering calculations to aid in planning and corrective measure projects.
  • Assist with storm restoration efforts both local and out of town.
Minimum Requirements

Minimum Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial) from a four‑year accredited institution. • Degrees in engineering technology from a four‑year accredited institution with PE may be considered. • Preferred: Electrical, Mechanical, Civil.

Minimum Experience

  • Engineer I – 0 to 2 years experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer II – 2+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer III – 4+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer Sr. – 6+ years experience in an engineering discipline.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledgeable of engineering principles. Ability to understand and comply with procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area. Good leadership, interpersonal, written and oral communication, math, and project management skills. Good knowledge of PC operations and related software. Familiar with National Electrical Safety Codes and National Electrical Code. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities, work well under pressure, work safely and follow all safety policies, recognize and mitigate hazards, deliver high‑level customer service, support a diverse and inclusive work environment, and enact process improvement.

Certificates, Licenses, etc.
Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Working Conditions
Must be available for 24‑hour call out and extended hours as necessary. Additional hours, alternate locations, or duties related to storms, outages, emergencies, or other company‑required situations may be required. Exempt employees may not receive overtime payment for such duties.

Arkansas – Pine Bluff, McGehee, Monticello, Stuttgart.
