Reviews product systems, associated support equipment and facilities, functional specifications and operations, and establishes safety requirements for assigned systems. Independently analyzes and recommends safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards. Develops safety documents as required to support customer and test/operational range requirements. Performs audits of operational areas and reports effectiveness of system safety program. Participates in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions. Evaluates the interrelationship of system safety requirements and other aspects of concept design and development requirements to ensure the most cost effective program.
**Job Summary**
Northrop Grumman Defense System Sector is seeking a System Safety Engineer 1/2 to join our team in Rocket Center, WV, near Cumberland, MD. The Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL) in Rocket Center designs, develops, and manufactures tactical rocket motors, medium caliber ammunition, composite components and end items, and fuze and electronics equipment. The dedicated team at ABL supports national security efforts by developing defense systems for DoD customers and U.S. allies.

Salary Range: $58,200 - $87,200; Salary Range 2: $70,200 - $105,400. Compensation depends on experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Benefits include health, life, disability insurance, savings plans, paid holidays, and PTO. The application process typically lasts about 20 days, subject to change.
