The Role

Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer and a variety of software applications.


Candidate will serve as the senior Structural Engineer supporting multiple Navy programs. Candidate must be recognized in the field as a subject matter expert for Navy structural designs and must demonstrate the ability to independently lead technical integration activities with substantial interaction with Navy engineering stakeholders. Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include FEMAP, Autodesk NASTRAN, ShipConstructor, AutoCAD and a variety of software applications.


Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts.Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated. Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Work checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of superior.Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.


Must Have


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university and 14 years of experience

  • Master of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university and 12 years of experience

  • -or

  • PHD in Engineering from an ABET accredited university and 9 years of experience


Nice to Have

Industry leader in Structural Analysis. Expertise with advanced structural analysis tools (e.g., FEMAP, Autodesk Nastran.) Strong proficiency in 3D modeling and CAD tools. Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams or mentoring junior engineers. Deep knowledge of industry codes and standards. Experience with structural testing, validation, and failure analysis. Ability to manage complex engineering projects with cross-functional teams. Strong communication skills for technical presentations, documentation, and stakeholder interactions.
