Job summary

American Airlines is seeking an IT Infrastructure professional in the Fort Worth area to design and implement robust server, network, and storage solutions. You will maintain systems, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with engineers to ensure security and reliability across the infrastructure stack.

The role requires hands-on experience, comfort with travel, and willingness to work rotating shifts. Strong knowledge of Kong Gateway, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, and API lifecycles is highly

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on IT work experience supporting and resolving diverse PC desktop software and hardware issues
  • Willingness to travel
  • Willingness to work varying shifts (Day, Night, Split, or weekends)

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust IT infrastructure solutions including servers, networks, and storage
  • Maintain and support IT systems; perform updates and troubleshoot issues
  • Troubleshoot complex issues escalated from Level 1/2 support teams
  • Manage and implement security controls to protect infrastructure
  • Collaborate with network engineers and system admins to ensure seamless operation

What you'll do

  • Design and Implementation: Develop and implement robust IT infrastructure solutions, including servers, networks, and storage systems.
  • Maintenance and Support: Perform regular maintenance and updates to IT systems, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, and support end-users.
  • Troubleshooting: Resolve complex technical issues escalated from Level 1 and Level 2 support teams, providing expert-level troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Security Management: Implement and manage security measures to protect IT infrastructure from cyber threats and ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT professionals, including network engineers, system administrators, and security specialists, to ensure seamless integration and operation of IT systems.
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 3+ years of demonstrable ‘hands-on’ IT work experience supporting and resolving diverse PC desktop software and hardware issues
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must be willing to work varying shifts (Day, Night, Slit, or weekends)

Preferred Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • Airline Industry experience

Skills, Licenses, and Certifications

  • Familiarity with workflow and ITSM tools and ticketing systems
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interface at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and perform in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Administer and support Kong Gateway on MCP/Kubernetes platforms
  • Manage Kong Control Plane and Data Plane deployments
  • Implement API security controls, policies, traffic management, and observability
  • Automate deployments using Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and scripting
  • Support API lifecycle management, onboarding, governance, and developer enablement
  • Troubleshoot API performance, authentication, connectivity, and routing issues
  • Monitor platform health, manage incidents, and drive operational excellence
