Job summary

American Airlines is seeking a Data Engineer/Sr Data Engineer for the IT Analytics group at the DFW HQ in Fort Worth, TX. You will design and optimize analytics pipelines, migrate data using Azure services, and contribute to data governance and BI consumption in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Required 4+ years with SQL, Python, Spark and Azure, plus a BS in a technical field. Airline industry experience is a plus, with opportunity for leadership and Cloud-based data solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 4+ years building data solutions using agile and DevOps practices.
• 4+ years experience with SQL, Python and Spark.
• 4+ years experience with Cloud technologies, especially Microsoft Azure.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and support analytics solutions with data source teams.
• Build data migration and engineering solutions using Azure services and traditional data warehouses.
• Lead multi-disciplinary development lifecycles including CI/CD, data modeling and production support.
• Provide technical leadership within a team and collaborate in DevOps ownership.

What you'll do

• Work closely with source data application teams and product owners to design, implement and support analytics solutions that provide insights to make better decisions
• Implement data migration and data engineering solutions using Azure products and services: (Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Event Hub, Azure Stream
• Analytics, Azure Databricks, etc.) and traditional data warehouse tools
• Perform multiple aspects involved in the development lifecycle – design, cloud engineering (Infrastructure, network, security, and administration), ingestion, preparation, data modeling, testing, CICD pipelines, performance tuning, deployments, consumption, BI, alerting, prod support
• Provide technical leadership and collaborate within a team environment as well as work independently
• Be a part of a DevOps team that completely owns and supports their product

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
• 4+ years experience building data solutions, using agile and DevOps practices
• 4+ years experience using SQL, Python and Spark
• 4+ years experience with Cloud technologies (especially Microsoft Azure

Preferred Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience

• 7 years experience building data solutions, using agile and DevOps practices.
• 7 years experience using SQL, Python and Spark
• 7 years experience with Cloud technologies (especially Microsoft Azure)
• Airline Industry Experience

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

• Expertise with a Cloud based technology stack for data management, ingestion, curation and consumption layers.
• Azure Databricks Certifications preferred
