Job summary

American Airlines is hiring an Engineer/Sr Engineer for IFEC and Cabin Engineering at the PHL facility. The role focuses on providing engineering support for IFEC/IFE systems and WiFi on aircraft, with on-site and remote duties at stations and hangars.

The position requires a BS in Engineering with 3–6 years of experience and preferred credentials in Electrical Engineering, FAA familiarity, and advanced data analysis skills to drive reliable in-flight connectivity solutions.

Qualifications

  • 3-6 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Ten or more years of experience in aircraft In-Flight Entertainment, WiFi, or electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulatory requirements and AA engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site operational support to WIFI and IFE operations at the airport and remote support to line stations and maintenance bases.
  • Review BITE data to identify performance trends and review overnight workload for IFE issues.
  • Develop daily action plans, routing and manpower requests while conducting meetings with production teams.
  • Investigate IFE and WiFi system reliability issues in coordination with DFW Engineers as directed.
  • Liaise with Maintenance Management & Production Control for IFE/WiFi item assignments to aircraft workload.
  • Follow-up with stores and materials management for provisioning of required head-end units.
  • Provide support for other cabin systems, including premium seats.
  • Must be willing to work Night shifts and weekends.

  • This job is a member of the Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) Engineering Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
  • Responsible for providing Engineering support for the maintenance and operation of aircraft and related equipment. This job also establishes and assists maintaining aircraft and component standards within areas of responsibility.

  • This position is to provide on-site operational support to WIFI and IFE operations at the airport and remote support to line stations and maintenance bases, including but not limited to ensure monthly media is duplicated and distributed to maintenance in a timely fashion, monthly IFEC operational checks, support IFE software
  • loads via EO or EA written by IFE Engineering, perform reviews of BITE data to identify performance trends, review overnight workload for IFE issues and attend evening maintenance planning meetings.
  • Develops daily action plans, routing and manpower requests while conducting meetings with production teams
  • Investigates IFE and WiFi System reliability issues and processes in coordination with DFW Engineers as directed
  • Liaison with local Maintenance Management & Production Control for assignment of IFE and WiFi system related items to the respective aircraft workload
  • Follow-up with local stores and materials management for provisioning of required head-end units and Inventory.
  • Provide support for other cabin-related systems, specifically premium seats.
  • Must be willing to work Night shifts and weekends
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required
  • 3-6 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • A&P License.
  • Ten or more years of experience in aircraft In-Flight Entertainment, WiFi, or electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulatory requirements and AA engineering practices.

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to analyze technical data and make data driven decisions
  • Demonstrates aptitude, ability and willingness to take on new roles and responsibilties
  • Ability to prepare/deliver presentations that compel acceptance of solutions
  • Ability to successfully interact with internal and external customers
