Job summary

American Airlines in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a senior technical professional to manage software development and acceptance testing for IFEC systems. You will monitor performance, diagnose issues with suppliers, and lead test planning and user acceptance testing for major software releases.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the software development and Customer Acceptance Testing for IFEC systems and may lead other projects involving on-aircraft systems/technology.
  • Monitor IFEC performance using operational data and work with IFEC suppliers to diagnose issues and restore service.
  • Define new processes, gather requirements, manage deliverables, and develop and execute test plans for technology projects.
  • Lead and support User Acceptance Testing for major IFEC software releases and system updates.
  • Coordinate hosted applications integration including project management, software, hardware, network, data management, security issues, and vendor selection.
  • Utilize resources to increase technical expertise and practical experience.
  • Assess daily priorities in line with airline objectives.

  • This job sits within the Cabin Technology department of the Technical Operations Division. The position is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and the performance of Inflight Entertainment (IFE) and Inflight Connectivity (IFC) technology
What you'll do
  • Manage the software development and Customer Acceptance Testing for the Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity systems (IFEC) and may lead other projects involving on-aircraft systems/technology
  • Monitors Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) system performance using operational, analytics, and supplier provided data, and works directly with IFEC suppliers to diagnose issues, drive corrective actions, and restore service performance.
  • Tasks may include defining new processes, gathering and documenting requirements, managing project deliverables, and developing, reviewing, and executing test plans for technology projects
  • Lead and support User Acceptance Testing for major IFEC software releases and system updates.
  • May act as coordinator for any aspect of hosted applications integration, including project management, software, hardware, network, data management, security issues, and vendor selection
  • Utilizes available resources to continually increase levels of technical expertise and practical experience
  • Assesses daily priorities in accordance with airline/departmental objectives and management directives

Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering field required
  • 6+ years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Network experience highly desirable
  • Experience working with Software development, software applications and end user devices is preferred
  • Project management experience, preferably in software applications development
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniquesExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written; able to communicate effectively with multiple management levels and across a broad base of users
  • Write requirements and test plans, and executing test cases
  • Ability to travel in cycles that will range between 20% to 70%

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • A&P license
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to analyze technical data and make data driven decisions
  • Demonstrates aptitude, ability and willingness to take on new roles and responsibilties
  • Ability to prepare/deliver presentations that compel acceptance of solutions
  • Ability to successfully interact with internal and external customers
