Job summary

American Airlines is seeking a senior Engineering specialist to support IFE/WIFI and cabin systems integration for major modifications. The role emphasizes training, mentoring, and leading project dispositions while coordinating with manufacturers and regulators to ensure compliant solutions.

The position requires 6+ years in engineering, a Bachelor's in Engineering, and ideally a Master’s. Strong data analysis, communication, and presentation skills are essential for success in this on-site

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
• 6 years engineering experience minimum.
• Master's Degree in Engineering preferred.
• 8-10 years of engineering experience.
• Experience authoring, revising, and creating Engineering Orders (EOs), MET Projects, and EAs.
• Knowledge of CFRs, maintenance programs, WDM, AMM, IPC, TSM and CMM.

Responsibilities

• Conducts training for Engineers in area(s) of expertise.
• Mentors other Engineers.
• Leads as team leader/coordinator in project management or problem resolution.
• Coordinates with manufacturers and regulatory authorities, ensuring dispositions are substantiated per regulations and company manuals.
• Develops customized procedures and criteria for repairs, modifications, inspections or other maintenance actions.
• Keeps informed of day-to-day airline operations, assesses priorities per objectives.
• Investigates aircraft problems causing delays or disruptions, determines corrective actions.
• Provides Engineering support for disposition of discrepant conditions to restore serviceability.
• Responds to maintenance requests requiring technical assistance for projects or problems.
• Develops action plans for fleet/multi-fleet projects and pursues final dispositions.
• Coordinates with other departments to implement dispositions effectively.
• Prepares Engineering documents for dispositions and customized procedures for actions that meet objectives.
• Maintains knowledge of regulations affecting responsibilities and compliance.
• Utilizes resources to increase technical expertise and communication skills.
• Engages with front line team members and leadership.

• This job is a member of the IFE (In Flight Entertainment) Engineering Team within the Technical Operations Division.
• This team helps troubleshoot and resolve operational issues on transport category aircraft. This position will be responsible for Engineering support on system integration for major modification on IFE (In Flight Entertainment), WIFI, and cabin systems.

What youll do

• Keeps informed of day-to-day airline operations involving field of responsibility. Assesses daily priorities in accordance with airline/departmental objectives and management directives
• Investigates aircraft/component problems which may cause aircraft delays or cancellations, substantial expenditures in manpower or materials, or interruptions in maintenance operations, and determines appropriate corrective actions
• Provides Engineering support as required for disposition of discrepant conditions affecting aircraft or components in order to restore serviceable status
• Responds to requests from Maintenance and other airline departments when technical assistance is required to support projects or resolve problems
• Develops action plans for fleet/multi-fleet and/or component engineering projects and pursues final dispositions according to assessed priorities
• Coordinates with other airline departments, as required, to provide for effective and efficient implementation of engineering dispositions
• Prepares Engineering documents to implement technical dispositions by providing customized procedures for repairs, modifications, inspections or other maintenance actions which provide benefits in accordance with airline/departmental objectives and management directives
• Maintains knowledge of current and pending regulations, which affect areas of responsibility and ensures that all Engineering actions maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
• Utilizes available resources to continually increase levels of technical expertise and practical experience. Also strives to improve communications skills, time management and other personal qualities pertinent to maximum effectiveness and efficiency in performing assigned duties
• Actively engages with front line team members and leadership equally
