Who We Are:
The Marine Structures & Engineering Section provides engineering R&D services for commercial and government customers. We design, analyze, fabricate, and commission pressure vessels of various types for land-based, subsea, manned, and unmanned purposes.
Objectives of this Role:
- Work within a highly collaborative team to support the design, analysis, fabrication, and testing of unique, large article pressure vessels used in a variety of subsea or surface applications.
- Utilize CAD software (Creo and/or Solidworks) to develop mechanical designs, visualize component fitments within assemblies, and generate fabrication drawings.
- Apply knowledge of fabrication methods, assembly, and geometric dimensioning & tolerance (GD&T) to ensure components are designed in a way that can be manufactured and assembled.
- Communicate ideas, results, and other information to coworkers as well as commercial and government clients.
- Incorporate various design code, industry, and/or customer specifications to ensure compliance and performance requirements are met.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Generate low and high fidelity CAD models used for design evaluations, FEA purposes, to create fabrication drawings, and communicate conceptual ideas to customers.
- Generate clear, concise reports, presentations, and other supporting documentation related to design and fabrication methods.
- Interface with project managers and team members to identify, plan, and execute project objectives.
- Regularly communicate status and schedule of ongoing activities.
- Execute quality program objectives both internal and project-specific, that may include drawing reviews, ECO execution/revision processes, or other documentation review and retention requirements.
- Provide input or generate test plans to verify proper function and/or application of loads during physical testing (i.e. Factory Acceptance Test procedures).
Requirements:
- Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Structural Engineering, or directly related engineering degree with related experience.
- 0 - 5 years: Use of CAD software to generate detailed fabrication drawings and willingness to learn Creo (Pro-Engineer) if not already proficient.
- 0 - 5 years: Demonstrated mechanical design for manufacturing or fabrication within a quality systems such as ISO 9001 or governmental.
- 0-5 years: Experience in pressure vessel design, structural testing (e.g. loads, temperatures, pressures, etc.), mechanisms or tooling/fixtures.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
Special Requirements:
Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
