Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Description
This position contributes to the team responsible for the Power Cycle Mechanical design of New Nuclear Power Plants. The Mechanical Engineer will perform activities within a team environment, working with a global team of partner organizations and suppliers to advance new plant detailed design and successfully deliver nuclear power plant projects.
Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate, and conduct technical review of drawings and design documentation for heat exchangers.
- Assist in reviewing vendor supplier documentation associated with secondary steam cycle heat exchangers.
- Perform calculations for relief valve sizing, control valve sizing, hydraulic calculations for pump sizing and piping sizing.
- Manage project work schedules and priorities.
- Provide on-time, quality delivery of equipment packages and engineering documentation in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably a Master's or PhD.
- 10 years of experience in component design and fabrication of heat exchangers.
- Experience with procurement of heat exchangers for projects.
- Competency in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or greater in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering and fabrication, with a focus on heat exchanger and procurement-related activities.
- Proven problem-solving skills and strong leadership capabilities.
- Strong expertise in pressure vessel design and thermal systems.
Work Environment
Remote working environment with possible travel to Wilmington for technical meetings and reviews, though travel is limited and not required. The role supports next-generation reactor technology in a heavy R&D and implementation environment, with growing momentum and support from various entities.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $70.00/hr.
