Remote Nuclear Mechanical Engineer
12+ month contract
Pay Rate: $55 - 60+ per hour
Summary:
- Complete engineering projects by analyzing problems, organizing and controlling project elements.
- Provide expert advice on design processes or construction methods.
- Formulate and direct investigations or prototype, model, and system studies, analyzing and interpreting the data obtained and recommending practical applications of results.
- Review complex calculations and design deliverables.
- Analyze problems, investigate, and establish general performance specifications for components, equipment, systems, and processes.
- Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products using principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
- Collaborate with team members to determine project priorities and implications.
- Provide solutions and define deliverables to solve client issues.
- Approve work schedules and recommend additional resources and equipment.
- Engage customers in technical discussions regarding design inputs, scope, and methodology.
- Exercise professional judgment in experimental result implications.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Lead small to medium projects or serve as a technical lead on complex projects.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
- 8+ years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for mechanical design in nuclear power plants.
- Understanding of the client Engineering Change Control process for nuclear utilities (asset considered a plus).
- Knowledge of Nuclear Quality Assurance Standards.
- Strong time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving abilities and ability to work under pressure.
- Effective organization and prioritization skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for client site visits and presentations.
