Job Description
We are currently looking for 2x Mechanical Engineers based in the Midlands/South. This role is 40 hours per week, primarily remote, with a VAN & Fuel card provided. The position involves servicing peaking assets, with travel required.
Main responsibilities:
- Replace worn components as required (due to wear, failure, or schedule), e.g., cylinder heads, piston/liner packs, turbochargers, exhaust and induction systems, oil pumps, and intercoolers.
- Lead the overhaul of reciprocating generating assets.
- Perform day-to-day maintenance and operation, including fault location, diagnosis, and rectification.
- Deliver planned maintenance and respond to breakdowns for assets, minimizing outages.
- Seek guidance from the Engineering and Management team when unsure.
- Manage costs by utilizing available skills and tools within the company.
- Order and list correct components, gaskets, and incidentals for scheduled overhauls and repairs.
- Ensure stock levels of essential spare parts are maintained for breakdowns or unscheduled overhauls.
- Adhere to Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental procedures, using good judgment.
- Reduce reliance on contractors where economically feasible.
- Comply with legislation and company procedures, proactively maintaining, monitoring, reporting, and auditing.
- Continuously enhance personal and team skills and knowledge.
- Manage time and travel effectively, including staying away from home when appropriate.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Extensive experience leading overhauls of reciprocating generating assets in a field service environment.
- Knowledge of MWM, CAT, CG, MTU equipment.
- Familiarity with electrical, heat, and mechanical maintenance.
- Proficiency in fault location, diagnosis, and rectification.
Desirable:
- Gassafe accreditation (or ability to obtain within probation).
- Electrical skills or relevant experience in the field.
- Familiarity with electric control systems (12V DC – 415V AC, 3-phase).
- Computer literacy.
- Full UK driver's license.
