David Evans and Associates, Inc. (DEA) seeks an Engineer-in-Training for transit and rail projects in Denver, CO or College Station, TX. You will assist with design, observation, and coordination across rail transit, freight rail, and bus rapid transit programs.

The role offers office and field work, with travel up to 25% across the United States. A Civil Engineering degree and EIT eligibility are required, along with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology.
• Interest in transit, rail, and transportation infrastructure projects.
• 0-3 years of experience in freight rail design.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools.
• Strong communication, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%, including occasional trips lasting up to one week.

Responsibilities

• Design of track, busways, and related transit and railroad facilities.
• Design of grading, drainage, utilities, roadways and at-grade crossings, including permitting.
• Production of drawings, layouts, maps, corridor and 3D modeling using AutoCAD Civil 3D or Bentley OpenRoads/OpenRail.
• Preparation of design details, schematics, and engineering specifications.
• Coordination with other project disciplines including structural, architectural, geotechnical, surveying.
• Preparation of quantity and cost estimates.
• Limited field observation on project sites.
• Site assessments in support of facility management and maintenance programs.
