The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is seeking an Engineer-In-Training I in Frankfort, KY to learn how to design bridges, culverts, and retaining walls in accordance with KYTC requirements and AASHTO LRFD.

You will detail structures using MicroStation, check designs, and grow through professional development opportunities in a collaborative, safety‑minded environment. This entry‑level role requires a valid driver's license and EIT certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.

By joining our Division of Structural Design as an Engineer-In-Training I in Franklin County, you’ll have the opportunity to learn how to design highway structures in accordance with KY Transportation Cabinet requirements as well as in accordance with the AASHTO LRFD (Load and Resistance Factor Design) Bridge Design Specifications.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Design bridges, culverts, and retaining walls
• Detail structures in accordance with design
• Check designs of other Engineers

Ideal candidate will have experience in:

• Structural Analysis and computer modeling
• Detailing structures using MicroStation
• Design Structures using AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
