Job summary

Major Tool & Machine in Indianapolis, Indiana, invites Engineers in Training to join a rotational program across Operations and Engineering to gain hands-on experience and progress to a full-time process engineer role. Participants complete assignments, training, and presentations while applying Lean Manufacturing and 6S principles in a fast-paced shop floor environment.

The program emphasizes documentation, safety, and hands-on problem solving, with mentorship from various managers and exposure

Qualifications

• Educational Experience - BS degree in technically related field.
• Experience - Strong blueprint reading and computer skills. Strong organizational abilities and good communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be detail oriented, have problem solving ability. Must be able to work unsupervised and have initiative to follow through the steps required, working with all levels of the organization.
• Physical Demands - stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend; exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.

Job description

Position Summary:

Engineers in Training complete a rotational assignment program through various positions in Operations, Engineering, and other areas as requested. Objective is to gain experience & graduate to full time process engineer once rotation is complete.

Accountabilities:

Accountable for understanding and following all SOPs and WIs related to job duties while supporting 6S and Lean Manufacturing concepts. Ensure all documentation, digital data and related internal communications are handled in an appropriate and timely manner. Ensure communications with all personnel occurs on a timely basis.

Authorities:

As defined by the position assignments in the rotation.

Duties:

• Complete overview presentations as scheduled of rotational assignment highlights.

Job Qualification Requirements:

Visual Acuity - Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts and machinery.

Hearing Ability - Ability to communicate to customers and employees. Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.

Working Conditions - The employee is subject to:

• shop floor environment,
• high noise levels from operating machines,
• physical hazards from moving equipment and production components,
• breathing fumes, dust and mist,
• skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids,
• welding flashes.
