Job summary

Detroit Water and Sewerage Department seeks an Engineer 3 to support design, delivery and contract administration for municipal projects. You will develop plans, assess bids, and provide technical oversight across consultant and construction activities.

A valid MI driver’s license and field travel are required. Responsibilities include coordination with operations, preparing technical scopes, and ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in engineering required and EIT/PE certification preferred.
• Experience in treatment plants or water distribution systems is essential.
• Knowledge of green stormwater infrastructure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct engineering activities for municipal projects.
• Prepare plans, drawings, specifications and computations.
• Evaluate bids and review consultant proposals.
• Attend construction meetings and oversee field issues.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance on projects.
