  • Responds to inquiries, meets with the public, and oversees preparation of related correspondence.

  • Reviews developer drawings for compliance with Baltimore County standards for changes to public infrastructure.
  • Provides project management and design support for in-house and consultant projects.
  • Coordinates and distributes comments from water, sewer, storm drain, structures, and highway design on proposed developments.
  • Creates and maintains procedures to track conflicts with utilities on capital projects.
  • Participates in public meetings and hearings.
  • Coordinates with construction managers to relocate existing utilities as needed.
  • Leads quarterly utility coordination meetings with external agencies.
  • Assists in preparing capital improvement budgets and programs.
  • Supervises professional and support staff.
  • Resolves design problems and reviews project correspondence with outside agencies.
  • Reviews and approves plans for water, sewer, structures, storm drainage and highways.
  • Analyzes consultant proposals and prepares consulting agreements.
  • Reviews developers' projects.

Pay Schedule XII, Grade 4M, Regular Schedule 35 hours per week.

A vacancy exists in the Department of Public Works and Transportation, Bureau of Engineering and Construction.

Under general supervision, serves as a project engineer for various professional engineering projects. Manages aspects of multiple projects (both capital and development) simultaneously. Manages major departmental engineering programs.

  • Coordinates with other County agencies as well as outside agencies such as the State Highway Administration, Maryland Department of the Environment, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Baltimore City. This may include attending meetings at outside agency offices on behalf of Engineering.
  • Investigates complaints, responds to inquiries, meets with the public, and prepares and supervises the preparation of resulting correspondence.
  • Coordinate with other County and outside agencies
  • Reviews developer drawings for compliance with Baltimore County standards for any changes to public infrastructure.
  • Provides project management (review and design assistance) for various engineering (in-house design and consultant design) projects within the Bureau with a focus on impacts to other utilities.
  • Coordinates and distributes comments from various design sections (i.e. water, sewer, storm drain, structures, and highway design) related to proposed development projects.
  • Create and maintain procedures for tracking potential conflicts related to Baltimore County Capital Projects and other public utilities such as gas, electric, communications, cable fiber optics, and all other potential utilities.
  • Participates in and conducts public meetings and hearings.
  • Coordinate with Construction Managers to facilitate relocation of exiting utilities as necessary.
  • Coordinate and lead quarterly Utility Coordination meetings between various external agencies.
  • Assists in the preparation of capital improvement budgets and programs.
  • Supervises or leads professional and subprofessional personnel.
  • Resolves design problems, prepares and reviews correspondence relating to projects, and coordinates projects with outside agencies.
  • Reviews and approves plans and specifications for several disciplines including water, sewer, structures, storm drainage and highways.
  • Analyzes consultants' proposals, reviews consultant designs, and prepares consulting agreements.
  • Reviews the work of developers' projects
