Job summary

The Elevance Health Companies, Inc. in Norfolk, VA seeks an Engineer III for the Pulse Point location. The role requires working in-office 3–4 days per week with hybrid flexibility when feasible.

As part of the team, you will collaborate with Systems Analysts, support existing applications, and contribute to Agile sprint estimation, planning, and execution. You will perform design reviews, ensure unit testing, provide on‑call support, mentor colleagues, and lead small to medium projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Four (4) years of engineering experience required.
• Multi‑platform experience.
• Experience with Java/J2EE technologies, Hibernate, Spring, JSP, AJAX, JavaScript, jQuery, JavaBeans, Servlets, Web Services, JDBC.

Responsibilities

• Work with Systems Analysts to create and implement technical requirements.

• Ensure unit testing for all new development activities.

Location & Work Schedule

Pulse Point, 5800 Northampton Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502. Office days 3–4 per week; remaining days can be worked remotely.

Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

Experience Requirements

• Multi‑platform experience.
• Proficiency with Java/J2EE development technologies: Java programming language, Drools, Hibernate, Spring, JSP, AJAX, JavaScript, jQuery, JavaBeans, Servlets, Web Services, and JDBC.
• Experience with Rational toolset, including RSA, ClearCase, and ClearQuest version control tools.
• Experience working with SQL and DB2.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $125,320 – $126,320 (location: Norfolk, VA). Elevance Health provides a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, disability coverage, 401(k) match, equity stock purchase plan, and additional incentive programs.
