Job Description

Microchip Frequency and Time Division (FTD) is a world leader in precise time solutions, providing advanced timing technologies, atomic clocks and related services to the communications, aerospace/defense and IT infrastructure industries. This role involves providing quality assurance support to ensure purchased parts and manufactured goods meet company standards for design, procurement, manufacturing and reliability, and executing continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma tools and practices.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in identification, analysis and resolution of product and process problems using Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Audit manufactured goods for conformance to Engineering & Manufacturing Standards.
  • Engage with contract manufacturers for product transfer, new product introduction and change management.
  • Provide routine reporting on material and product quality trends, recommending improvement actions.
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) on PCBA’s, pre-fab parts, sheet metal parts and systems.
  • Conduct supplier audits of products, procedures and processes for conformity to configuration control.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) meetings, adding supplier/manufacturing quality inputs.
  • Analyze failures and non-conformities using our Agile PLM system, and perform root‑cause and corrective action analyses.
  • Assist with supplier quality system audits and conduct process audits at supplier sites; travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Support inspectors with part quality issues and drive corrective action to completion; interface with suppliers and engineering to enhance drawings and requirements.
  • Perform additional design, development and support tasks as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and at least 4 years of experience or training in quality, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably printed circuit board design or electronics assembly.
  • Proficiency with Six Sigma and 8D methodologies for root‑cause and corrective‑action implementation.
  • Knowledge of Lean quality philosophies, processes and tools.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Highly motivated, independent worker with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of Minitab SPC application.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 auditing, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and IPC‑610/J‑STD‑001 – preferred training.
  • Open to gaining additional knowledge through training in auditing, GD&T, SOC operations and related areas.
  • Proof of US citizenship, permanent residency or classification as a protected individual (U.S. Export Controls Requirements).

Pay Range

The total compensation package includes competitive base pay, restricted stock units, quarterly bonus opportunities, health benefits starting day one, retirement savings plans and an industry-leading ESPP program. The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the U.S., is $68,640 – $143,000. The range depends on location, skills and experience.
