Job summary

Qualus is seeking an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to design and create construction drawings for overhead transmission projects. The role may be based in Del Mar, CA, Lakewood, CO, or Vancouver, WA.

Responsibilities include designing lines from 69kV to 500kV, preparing sketches for 4–34 kV, structural analysis, and modeling with PLS-CADD to produce plan and profile drawings. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited school.
• 2-4 years of experience in overhead transmission design.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD or similar.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• EIT or ability to obtain within one year of hire.

Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus as an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer on our Transmission Design team. In this role you'll be designing and creating construction drawings for overhead transmission design projects. This position may be based out of one of the following offices: Del Mar, CA, Lakewood, CO, or Vancouver, WA.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.
• Prepare construction sketches for overhead network services (4 KV through 34 KV).
• Perform structural analysis and design, perform foundation designs.
• Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine right of way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop transmission line plan and profile drawings.
• Review vendor submittals.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited school
• 2-4 years of experience in overhead transmission design
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office product applications, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD or similar
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, having high attention to detail.
• Great communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss technical recommendations with customers.
• Great computer skills.
• Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
• Must possess valid driver's license
