Qualus is seeking an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to join our Transmission Design team. You will design overhead transmission lines from 69kV to 500kV and prepare construction drawings for projects in Florida and North Carolina, with remote options where available.

Responsibilities include modeling in PLS-CADD, creating plan and profile drawings, reviewing vendor submittals and performing structural and foundation design. A BS in engineering and 4–6 years of experience are required.

• 4–6 years of experience in overhead transmission design.
• ABET-accredited degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related field.
• Proficient with PLS-CADD, AutoCAD and MFAD or similar.
• Strong communication skills and ability to discuss technical recommendations with customers.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% and possess a valid driver’s license.

Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus as an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer on our Transmission Design team. In this role you'll be designing and creating construction drawings for overhead transmission design projects. This position may be based out of the following locations: Lake Mary/Orlando, FL, Palm Beach, FL or Raleigh, NC

Responsibilities

• Design overhead transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.

• Prepare construction sketches for overhead network services (4 KV through 34 KV).

• Perform structural analysis and design, perform foundation designs.

• Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine right of way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop transmission line plan and profile drawings.

• Review vendor submittals.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited school

• 4-6 years of experience in overhead transmission design

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office product applications, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD or similar

• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, having high attention to detail.

• Great communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss technical recommendations with customers.

• Great computer skills.

• PE license is a plus

• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

• Must possess valid driver's license
