Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace US LLC in Tempe, AZ is seeking an Engineer II – Castings to provide technical expertise in materials and processing for cast parts used in aerospace gas turbine engines. You will support development and existing products, collaborating with Honeywell teams and suppliers in a hybrid work setting.

The role involves assisting with design and manufacturing processes, auditing suppliers, and solving material/process issues to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
  • 2+ years of experience in materials/process engineering in the casting industry.
  • 2+ years experience with nickel, aluminum, steel, and/or titanium aerospace cast alloys.

Responsibilities

  • Support materials and processes involved in design and manufacture of cast parts.
  • Interact with suppliers to resolve issues.
  • Liaise between suppliers and Honeywell Engineering, Quality, SDE, and ISC.

Job description

As an Engineer II – Castings here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will provide technical expertise and support in the materials and process engineering of cast product. Work as part of a highly engaged and integrated Materials Engineering team. You will collaborate across Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams to create solutions and systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will participate in all phases of product development and will be a technical point of contact for less experienced engineers.

You will report directly to our Senior Engineering Manager, and you'll work out of our Tempe, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.

This position will provide support for new and existing cast products including aerospace gas turbine engines used for propulsion and auxiliary power.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include support for materials and processes involved in the design and manufacture of cast parts, as well as regular interaction with suppliers to help resolve issues. May occasionally need to lift 35 pounds single lift, and travel approximately 10-20%.

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
  • 2 or more years of experience in materials/process engineering in the casting industry
  • 2 or more years experience with nickel, aluminum, steel, and/or titanium aerospace cast alloys
WE VALUE
  • Bachelor's Degree with specialization in Materials Science, Material Engineering, Metallurgy, Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Advanced degree in engineering or another related field a plus
  • Understanding and hands‑on experience in casting (Investment/sand casting production processes are a plus)
  • Familiarity with industrial materials and processing specifications
  • Familiarity with Nadcap and industry standards, requirements and approvals
  • Capable of assessing new suppliers and determining their strengths and weaknesses
  • Experience with conducting casting supplier audits (investment castings, and sand casting audits are a plus)
  • Working with and developing suppliers
  • Experience troubleshooting material and process issues, and providing technical solutions for rapid problem solving
  • Liaison work between suppliers and Honeywell Engineering, Quality, Supplier Development Engineers (SDE), and Integrated Supply Chain (ISC).
  • Working with Design Engineering
  • Understanding engineering drawings and requirements
  • Experience in Six Sigma, Lean and other process improvement tools
  • Provide technical expertise and support in materials and process engineering with an emphasis and machining operations and processes.
