Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer II in Phoenix, AZ to support the Overhaul Engineering group within GROE and CTO, aiding an FAA-certified repair station. You will work with operations to diagnose manufacturing issues and develop repair schemes leveraging new and existing technologies.

Responsibilities include improving reliability, reducing cost, ensuring quality, and collaborating with customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the manufacturing or aerospace industry.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with operations to diagnose and resolve day‑to‑day manufacturing issues, ensuring stable and efficient operations.
  • Offer technical assistance for disassembly, inspection, repair, assembly, and testing of gas turbine engines.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance business performance concerning reliability, quality, process turnaround time, first pass yield, cost, productivity, and warranty claims.
  • Implement aggressive cost reduction initiatives and explore external business opportunities related to the Repair & Overhaul sector.
  • Support global financial productivity goals through Repair Development, test system improvements, and the implementation of standardized processes.
  • Examine all aspects of the Repair & Overhaul process for standardization opportunities.
  • Develop repair schemes utilizing new and existing repair technologies for aircraft components.
  • Collaborate with customers to identify and execute actions that resolve issues and drive future growth opportunities.
  • Participate as a team member in Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, and the Honeywell Operating System (HOS).

Job description

Mechanical Design Engineer II (Finance)

The Mechanical Design Engineer II position is part of Global Repair & Overhaul Engineering (GROE) team within the Chief Technology Office (CTO) organization, supporting Aerospace Technology Integrate Supply Chain (ISC) Repair & Overhaul organization. The Mechanical Design Engineer II will be part of the Overhaul Engineering (OHE) Group that is responsible for engineering operations in support of an OEM-affiliated, FAA-certified aerospace repair station in Phoenix, AZ.

The OHE Group consists of engineers who are responsible for repair and overhaul support requirements for various aircraft components as well as test systems support and improvements. The ideal candidate would be an experienced engineer with strong interpersonal skills, as the position demands frequent interaction with both internal and external customers. The candidate must be capable of exercising initiative and sound judgment.

You will report directly to our Engineering Manager, and you'll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location.

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the manufacturing or aerospace industry.
WE VALUE
  • DFSS Certification or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Lean Expert and Blackbelt certifications.
  • Proven technical skills in manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting maintenance manuals and design drawings.
  • Capability to analyze and resolve test systems issues to restore systems to service.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for representing the site in technical discussions with customers and/or regulatory agencies.
  • Familiarity with specific Honeywell products listed in the site capability list.
