About the Role:

Windstream’s team of Outside Plant Engineers connects consumer and small business partners to our leading telecommunications products across the United States. In this role, you will work to create meaningful connections with customers and build long-term relationships. By analyzing data, you will solve complex problems for our business and residential customers utilizing copper cable, fiber cable, and electronics. ***This position can be filled in Waynesburg, PA; Brookville, PA; or State College, PA.***

What You’ll Do:

• Engineer/design outside plant facilities including fiber and copper
• Assist in the planning, analysis, design, and engineering of outside plant network structures and facilities
• Organize activities for the development, construction, implementation, and maintenance of outside plant engineering projects
• Utilize sound engineering practices to resolve issues creatively and effectively
• Communicate effectively to establish and maintain positive relationships and drive projects to completion
• Design projects to ensure cost-effective utilization of materials and labor
• Perform administrative work related to projects and assignments
• Assess situations, collaborate, identify key issues, and solve complex problems
• Conduct 70% of work in the field and 30% in the office (varies per market)
• Possess strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written
• Be proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal guidance
• Work well in a team and be adaptable
• Analyze problems, prioritize, and make decisions
• Enjoy solving problems and building solutions
• Have a college degree in Engineering or similar discipline and/or 2+ years of technical experience

Even Better:

• Experience with CAD/E, MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar programs
• Experience working with city, county, or state agencies

Qualifications include a college degree in Engineering or a related field and 0-2 years of professional experience, or 4+ years of related engineering/technical experience, or an equivalent combination. This is a safety-sensitive position.
