Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to assess existing facilities and infrastructure supporting Government operations in Hawaii. You will develop designs, calculations, specs, and construction docs for new and renovated facilities, covering medium- and low-voltage systems, generators, UPS, lighting, grounding, and renewables.

You will lead facility inspections, prepare technical reports, review contractor submissions, and coordinate with government personnel and contractors

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in electrical engineering, facilities or infrastructure modernization for gov/DoD programs
  • Experience designing, analyzing or maintaining electrical systems and facility infra
  • Experience in facility construction, sustainment, modernization or renovation
  • Experience preparing drawings, calculations, specs, and reports
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders while meeting schedules and budgets
  • Ability to present engineering recommendations to government/leadership
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • PE license in Electrical Engineering (highly desirable)
  • EIT certification (desirable)
  • Experience with overseas military installations or contingency engineering
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, ArcGIS, Bluebeam
  • Knowledge of UFC/NEC/NFPA/IEEE and energy regs
  • PM/CEM/LEED AP certifications (preferred)
  • Experience with resilient power, microgrids, and mission-critical systems

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical engineering assessments of existing facilities, utilities, and infrastructure supporting Government operations
  • Develop electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and construction documents for new construction, renovation, modernization, and sustainment projects
  • Design and evaluate medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, standby generators, UPS, lighting, grounding, and renewable energy
  • Conduct facility inspections, condition assessments, power quality analyses, and electrical system evaluations
  • Prepare engineering reports, design packages, cost estimates, and technical recommendations
  • Review contractor design submissions, shop drawings, and construction documents for technical compliance
  • Support construction management activities including design reviews, field inspections, commissioning, and acceptance testing
  • Coordinate engineering activities with Government personnel, contractors, utilities, subcontractors, and host nation reps
  • Ensure electrical designs comply with UFC, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, OSHA and host nation regulations
  • Identify infrastructural deficiencies and recommend corrective actions
  • Support contingency engineering, emergency power restoration, and rapid infrastructure assessments
  • Coordinate electrical engineering with multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain engineering documentation, as-builts, system configurations, and project records
  • Provide recommendations on lifecycle maintenance, modernization, energy efficiency, and resiliency
  • Promote engineering best practices, safety, innovation, and continuous process improvement

Job description

Perform electrical engineering assessments of existing facilities, utilities, and infrastructure supporting Government operations
Develop electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and construction documents for new construction, renovation, modernization, and sustainment projects
Design and evaluate medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, standby generators, UPS systems, lighting systems, grounding systems, and renewable energy solutions
Conduct facility inspections, condition assessments, power quality analyses, and electrical system evaluations
Prepare engineering reports, design packages, cost estimates, and technical recommendations
Review contractor design submissions, shop drawings, and construction documentation for technical compliance
Support construction management activities including design reviews, field inspections, commissioning, and acceptance testing
Coordinate engineering activities with Government personnel, construction contractors, utility providers, subcontractors, and host nation representatives
Ensure electrical designs comply with UFC, NEC, NFPA, IEEE standards, OSHA requirements, and host nation regulations
Identify electrical infrastructure deficiencies and recommend corrective actions
Support contingency engineering, emergency power restoration, and rapid infrastructure assessments during emergent operations
Coordinate electrical engineering efforts with multidisciplinary engineering teams
Maintain engineering documentation, as-built drawings, system configurations, and project records
Provide technical recommendations regarding lifecycle maintenance, modernization, energy efficiency, and infrastructure resiliency
Promote engineering best practices, safety, innovation, and continuous process improvement

Requirements
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical engineering, facilities engineering, power systems engineering, construction management, or infrastructure modernization supporting Government, Department of Defense, or commercial infrastructure programs
  • Experience designing, analyzing, or maintaining commercial, industrial, or Government electrical systems and facility infrastructure
  • Experience supporting facility construction, sustainment, modernization, or renovation projects
  • Experience preparing engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical reports
  • Ability to coordinate engineering activities across multiple stakeholders while supporting project schedules, budgets, and operational requirements
  • Ability to present engineering recommendations and technical briefings to Government and program leadership
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (desired)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering (highly desirable)
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification (desirable)
  • Experience supporting overseas military installations, contingency engineering, expeditionary facilities, or infrastructure development projects
  • Experience utilizing AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, SKM Power Tools, ETAP, EasyPower, ArcGIS, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and Microsoft 365 applications
  • Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS), National Electrical Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), IEEE standards, and applicable energy and environmental regulations
  • PMP, CQM, CEM, LEED AP, or equivalent engineering certifications (preferred)
  • Experience supporting electrical infrastructure modernization across the Indo-Pacific or other Combatant Command environments (highly desirable)
  • Experience designing or supporting resilient power systems, microgrids, backup generation, renewable energy integration, and mission-critical facility electrical systems (highly desirable)
