Job summary

Toyota Manufacturing in Georgetown, KY seeks an Engineer – Body Weld to manage technical operations and projects in the Body Weld Department, reporting to the Engineering Manager. You will lead safety-first initiatives, drive kaizen, and ensure KPI targets are tracked and achieved.

You will coordinate with production, maintenance, and suppliers to solve issues, develop technical instructions, and support continuous improvement while maintaining quality and cost objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 6 months in Production Engineering or 3+ years in the field.
  • Experience creating machine specs and implementing changes.
  • Experience writing technical specs and cost justifications.
  • Experience leading problem solving related to KPI metrics.
  • Proficient with MS Office and CAD tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead with a Safety First mindset and apply Toyota Production Systems.
  • Develop annual plans aligned with goals and drive kaizen.
  • Analyze KPIs and facilitate improvement activities.
  • Lead problem-solving for process equipment and new tech.
  • Support production and maintenance to solve issues and countermeasures.
  • Create technical instructions to ensure quality standards.
  • Coordinate with suppliers/contractors on specs, scope, and schedules.
  • Prepare feasibility studies and risk assessments before changes.

Who we’re looking for

Toyota’sBody WeldDepartment is looking for a passionate and highly motivatedEngineer – Body Weld.

The primary responsibility of this role is to manage technical operations, systems, and projects for a designated process area within the Body Weld Department.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Body Weld department's objective to ensure that all Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost targets are achieved and tracked KPI Management.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead by "Safety First" mindset, Toyota Way, and Toyota Production Systems Principles.
  • Support development and execution of annual plans aligned with company and department goals.
  • Analyze KPI’s and identify / facilitate kaizen activity.
  • Lead technical problem-solving activities related to process equipment and new technology integration.
  • Support Production and Maintenance departments to solve systemic/process problems and implement countermeasure activities.
  • Be a technical resource for production, maintenance, and quality to support manufacturing operations and standardization through documentation, training, and audits.
  • Report to management, internal and external, on project status
  • Coordinate and manage supplier/contractor activity, including equipment specification, job scope, expectations, safety, and schedules.
  • Conduct Feasibility Study and Risk Assessment's prior to process & engineering changes being made.
  • Develop technical instructions to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Interact with outside groups (Stamping PE, Paint PE, Assembly PE, Facilities, etc.)
What you bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with minimum 6 months working experience in Production Engineering Role, or 3+ years of equivalent professional experience in Production Engineering
  • Experience with machine specification creation and implementation of equipment and/or process changes
  • Experience writing technical specifications and/or procedures
  • Experience writing A3 cost justifications, cost reduction activities, and project management
  • Experience leading and coordinating problem solving activities related to KPI
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite Application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using Power Bi Analytical Tool
  • Experience using AutoCAD or SolidWorks
  • Be able and willing to work weekends & July / December holiday shutdowns as necessary
  • Be willing to travel up to 7% and work overtime up 19% based on business needs
Added bonus if you have
  • Experience leading/participating in cross-shop projects or problem-solving teams
  • Robot and/or Vision System Programing and/or PLC for machine programming experience
  • Experience using CAROTT 3
  • Experience using SMS-Br and/or WinCMM or other CMM technology
  • Completion of TBP (Toyota Business Practice) through Panel
  • Toyota experience and/or Body Weld experience
