Job summary

Toyota's Plant Engineering team is seeking a motivated Engineer to join the Advanced Planning group in the United States. The role focuses on ensuring projects are properly scoped, funded, and budgeted while collaborating with accounting to ensure smooth financial information flow and supporting the department's drawing repository.

Ideal candidates will have a BS in a relevant engineering field, PE preferred, and experience with CAD (Autodesk) and PowerBI.

Responsibilities

  • Apply plant planning and project management to control estimates and budgets.
  • Assess capital budgeting vs operating expense classifications.
  • Improve department budgeting processes and tracking tools.
  • Update construction drawings using AutoCAD/Autodesk.
  • Maintain clear, proactive communication with customers and internal teams.

Who we are looking for

Toyota's Plant Engineering (PLE) Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer to join our Advanced Planning team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this individual will work closely with customers to understand the scope of their projects and ensure the funding is properly allocated and budgeted. In this role, the Engineer will also work closely with the Accounting team to ensure the smooth flow of information and provide follow-up as needed. Additionally, they may oversee the management of the department's drawing repository.


What you will be doing


  • Apply proven experience in plant planning, project management, construction, and building design to ensure project estimates are in line with customer and budgetary requirements

  • Apply experience with capital budgeting and evaluate expenses for capitalization or operating expense classification

  • Utilize strong analytical skills to help improve department budgetary process, improve tracking tools, and support quicker decision making

  • Apply proficiency in AutoCAD/Autodesk (reading, understanding, and the ability to update construction drawings)

  • Utilize excellent communication skills and a customer first mind set


What you bring


  • Bachelor of Science (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or similar)

  • Intermediate level experience of computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, Copilot)

  • Proficiency with CAD, preferably Autodesk or similar

  • Added bonus if you have Experience with SAP and/or Ariba

  • Experience with PowerBI

  • Professional Engineering License

  • Experience in industrial mechanical systems (piping, chilled water, compressed air, etc.)

  • Experience in industrial power systems (switchgear, power distribution systems, 480VAC and higher)

  • Experience in industrial structural steel systems

  • Experience in large scale civil installations
