Job summary

Toyota Deutschland GmbH in Blue Springs, MS, seeks a Paint Engineer to support Paint New Model prep and production processes. You will assist with shop readiness for model changes, coordinate safety and equipment initiatives, and help drive continuous improvements while reporting to the Paint Manager.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, plant-level automotive experience, and strong problem-solving skills. Overtime, weekends, and holiday shutdowns may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
  • Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional projects and problem solving.
  • Experience coordinating safety, quality, productivity and cost initiatives.
  • Willingness to work up to 20% overtime including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical support for Paint production processes and systems.
  • Coordinate supplier and contractor activities and safety requirements.
  • Perform risk assessments and implement engineering countermeasures.
  • Carry out root-cause analysis for process and equipment issues.
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards and procedures.
  • Track project schedules, risks, actions, and milestones.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and manufacturing systems.

Who we’re looking for

Toyota’sPaintDepartment is looking for a passionate and highly-motivatedPaint Engineer.

The primary responsibility of this role is to support engineering functions of the Paint New Model team to prepare the shop for future model changes while also supporting other shop initiatives.

Reporting to the Paint Manager, the person in this role will support the Paint department's objective to safely and successfully complete new model introductions and shop projects.

What you’ll be doing
  • Support engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives that contribute to Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost performance.

  • Provide technical support for Paint production processes, equipment, and manufacturing systems to help ensure safe and stable operations.

  • Assist with supplier and contractor coordination activities, including scope clarification, equipment information, safety requirements, scheduling, and issue follow-up.

  • Participate in risk assessments and support the implementation of safety improvements, engineering countermeasures, and process enhancements.

  • Perform structured problem-solving and basic root cause analysis to help resolve process, equipment, and manufacturing system issues.

  • Help develop, update, and maintain engineering standards, procedures, and best practices that support process stability and knowledge retention.

  • Track project schedules, risks, action items, and milestones, and provide routine status updates to leadership and team members.

  • Support the evaluation and implementation of new technologies, automation, and manufacturing systems under general supervision.

What you bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering

  • Plant level experience in an automotive manufacturing environment

  • Experience with technical specifications and implementation of major and minor equipment and/or process changes

  • Experience supporting and coordinating problem solving activities related to Safety, Quality, Productivity, and/or Cost

  • Experience supporting/participating in cross-functional projects or problem-solving teams

  • Able & willing to work up to 20% overtime, including weekends & July/December holiday shutdowns as necessary

Added bonus if you have
  • Experience working in Paint Department (TMNA or NAMC)

  • Experience with implementation of new technologies to improve process efficiency

  • Project lead experience managing activity schedules and KPIs.

  • Experience writing Ringis, cost reduction activities, and project management

  • Robot and/or Vision System Programing and/or Toyopuc experience

  • TBP (Toyota Business Practice) in process or complete

  • Experience with PowerBI, SMS-BR, N-SMS, Smartsheets, G-Alis, etc.
