Job summary

Mazda Toyota Manufacturing U.S.A. in Huntsville, AL seeks a seasoned launch engineer to lead equipment integration, supplier coordination, and automation support in a high-volume automotive assembly setting.

You will work with cross-functional teams, validate safety and quality requirements, and drive process improvements through root cause analysis and systematic countermeasures.

Qualifications

• 3 years of project management experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
• Experience with vendors and coordinating schedules.
• Experience in automotive manufacturing, assembly production engineering, or launch engineering in a SEIBI role.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in automated manufacturing environments.
• Experience with equipment startup, conveyors, robotics, or assembly tooling.
• Proficient with CAD software and analyzing technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute equipment vendor buyoffs to validate safety, quality, cycle time, ergonomic, and functional requirements.
• Support equipment debugging, troubleshooting, and process stabilization during launches to hit production targets.
• Develop countermeasures for equipment and process issues through root cause analysis and improvement activities.
• Support controls and automation activities including PLC troubleshooting, robot integration, and vision systems.
• Review equipment specs and layouts to ensure alignment with manufacturing requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful equipment integration and launch execution.
• Ensure safety, readiness, and operational excellence throughout project execution.
• Document and update SOPs for process-related equipment and tooling.

This role provides technical support for equipment integration, engineering changes while collaborating with cross-functional teams and global partners to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient operations.What You Do• Coordinate and execute equipment vendor buyoffs to validate safety, quality, cycle time, ergonomic, and functional requirements in accordance with company manufacturing standards.• Support equipment debugging, troubleshooting, and process stabilization activities during launch phases to achieve production targets related to safety, quality, cost, and delivery.• Develop and implement effective countermeasures for equipment, process, and production issues through root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.• Support controls and automation activities including PLC troubleshooting, robot integration, torque systems, vision systems, poka-yoke devices, and automated material handling equipment.• Review equipment specifications, layouts, and technical documentation to ensure alignment with manufacturing requirements and production objectives.• Collaborate cross-functionally with Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality, Suppliers, and external partners to ensure successful equipment integration and launch execution.• Ensure compliance with safety standards, production readiness requirements, and operational excellence principles throughout project execution.• Establish strong team member relations at all levels and support coaching, mentoring, teamwork, and inclusion initiatives.• Collaborate with international team members from Mazda, Toyota, and other customers.• Running daily reports for KPI management of Quality & Productivity to help improve cost.• Update timing and status of Engineering changes within Mazda unique and MTM specific databases and systems• Supporting Engineering team with the creation of Standard operating procedures for process related equipment, tooling, etc. and submit them into the document control system• Research and procure materials required for production processes as directed by engineering team to support Process change for new model introduction or process improvement activities• Develop and maintain a database of spare parts and drawings for unique jigs, fixtures, tooling, etc.• Setup and maintain a database of parts using SAP• Create or reverse engineer unique parts use CAD or other 3D software as required for production• Support with installation and initial setup of tools, pick lights and other production process needs• Ability to work rotating shifts• Ability to work outside of typical business hours and travel as needed (domestically and internationally)What You BringDemonstrated experience with AutoCAD or other design-related software (i.e. Solid Works, CATIA)Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with or analyzing technical drawings or specifications or part drawings and manuals / instructionsProficient with Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)High School Diploma or GEDWhat Will Set You Apart3 years of demonstrated project management work experienceBachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Industrial Technology, another technical fieldExperience working with vendors and coordinating schedulesExperience in automotive manufacturing, assembly production engineering, or launch engineering in a SEIBI roleStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in automated manufacturing environments.Experience with equipment startup, conveyor systems, robotics, fastening systems, or assembly toolingWhat We OfferAt Mazda Toyota Manufacturing USA Inc., we offer the opportunity to end each day with a smile and a sense of pride in the work that you do.
