Job description

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for degreed Engineers to fill contract positions in Rincon, GA. This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary. Required PPE: Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Ear Plugs, Steel Toe Shoes, & Safety Vest.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Engineer 1 position requires 0-5 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor's degree. Responsible for applying engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct power related systems. Supports estimate preparation, develops design options, and prepares construction specifications. Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Creating a safe work environment by putting safety first,
• understand the process used for planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance
• Understanding the functions and activities of various internal departments involved in design, construction, and maintenance,
• Understanding design practices and work processes
• Using all software applications used in design
• Understanding industry and Southern Company design standards,
• Supporting design standard and criteria development for the system
• Supporting construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations
• Estimating material for projects
• Transmitting construction packages and supporting specifications.

Skillsets and expertise required for this position include introductory engineering knowledge, basic problem-solving skills, limited discretion making independent decisions based on procedure and review with supervisor, basic discipline software knowledge, Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.

Additional Requirements

Candidate must have previous experience with walking down and marking up mechanical prints. Candidate must have experience with doing CAD work for mechanical P&IDs. Must be local or willing to relocate at own expense. This assignment is 50% field work and 50% CAD work and includes working on site at a Power Plant and outside in hot/cold weather.
